The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) today announced crews will begin reconstructing 5.5 miles of northbound I-75 from Topinabee Mail Route to Riggsville Road in Cheboygan County on Monday, August 11. Work includes ramp reconstruction at Riggsville Road.
The project goes from August 11 to November 14, 2008. Earlier this year, southbound I-75 was reconstructed in the same area.
The work detail is as follows: Northbound I-75 will be reduced to one lane; intermittent single lane closures will occur on Southbound I-75 within the limits of the project; all lanes will be open for the Labor Day holiday weekend; the northbound I-75 off ramp at Riggsville Road will be closed to traffic for approximately two weeks, at some point after to the Labor Day holiday weekend. Northbound off-ramp traffic will be routed via a signed detour; the Topinabee Rest Area will be closed to traffic for two Monday-Thursday periods.
Motorists are encouraged to drive with extreme caution through the construction zone.
